Beta-alanine is an amino acid produced naturally in the body. It’s significant and beneficial because it enhances your performance and athletic results. Your body uses it to produce carnosine – a protein building block. Carnosine reduces lactic acid accumulation in your muscles during exercise (that muscle burn you feel when working out), which leads to improved athletic performance.

Muscle acidosis limits the duration of high-intensity activity. For this reason, beta-alanine can be utilized for performance during high-intensity and short-duration exercises. Think HIIT (high-intensity interval training). For example, 18 rowers who supplemented for seven weeks were 4.3 seconds faster than the placebo group in a 2,000-meter race lasting over 6 minutes.
